Weather Permitting is part of the Alaska Wildland Adventures family of companies. Since 1977, Alaska Wildland Adventures has been providing premium tours in some of Alaska’s most spectacular wild places. Weather Permitting is your best choice for professional water taxi services and sightseeing tours out of Seward.
Convenience. We provide a simple and convenient schedule for customers, departing daily from Seward at 8:00 a.m. and returning by 6:00 p.m. Our loading beach is right next to Seward’s Northeast Parking Lot, eliminating the need for shuttling vehicles to and from parking. This lot is available for multiple overnight parking and has a fee of $10 per day. On your return trip simply unload the boat, pack your car and go!
Safety. The safety of your party and gear is our top priority. Every one of our captains has been running vessels in the waters of Kenai Fjords for many years. and is very knowledgeable about this rugged coastline and its varying and potentially turbulent weather patterns. If your water taxi is canceled due to bad weather, be assured that our captains have made the decision with your safety and comfort in mind. Our deckhands are trained one-on-one with our captains and are experts in all emergency procedures as well as proper storage of gear and kayaks. Upon booking you will be asked to fill out a Float Plan with intended routes, campsites, and identifying gear colors to aid our captains and any other vessels in finding your party in the case of an emergency. We also require each kayak party to carry a VHF marine radio both for emergency and non-emergency communications with our captains.
Reliability. Our consistent daily departure and return schedule ensures timely drop offs and pick ups for your party to and from the Kenai Fjords. A detailed log is kept on board by our captains that includes all parties on the water, their pick up and drop off dates and locations, and Float Plan so that no time is lost searching for a kayak party. By requiring each party to carry a VHF marine radio we ensure that any changes in your original plan can be quickly communicated, keeping our boats on schedule.
Comfort. Our vessels are designed with passenger comfort in mind, for a balanced, smooth ride as well as plenty of space for stowing gear. Sit indoors and enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee/tea, or lounge on the covered outdoor deck on a warm summer day. Bring your camera for marine wildlife sightings as our daily schedule has time built in for wildlife viewing. And last but certainly not least, no need to wait for land when nature calls as all of our boats are equipped with marine heads.
Speed. You’ll find that our service is the fastest available. Our boats are designed with speed and stability in mind, cruising at 22 knots on average. Your gear will be offloaded in just a few minutes at your landing beach with our vessels’ convenient front-loading ramps.
